Xylella fastidiosa

Please help keep the UK free of Xylella!

Xylella fastidiosa is a serious plant disease, which affects around 350 species of plants including rosemary. At present the UK is believed to be free from Xylella and we would like you to help us keep it that way!

There are several ways you can help:

  • buy UK-grown plants from reputable garden centres and nurseries
  • ask them about Xylella precautions. If they don't know anything then go elsewhere!
  • do not bring any plants or cuttings back from your holidays abroad
  • politely refuse offers of plants from friends

This may sound drastic. However, if you bear in mind there is no known cure for this devasting disease then prevention is the only option if we are to stay free of infection in the UK.
